- Vehicle was brought in due to a break down. Coolant was reported to have been leaking. Upon inspection I did not find any type of coolant leak when pressure testing system. Vehicle had low voltage codes as well as P0117 ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR 1 CIRCUIT LOW P0365 CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR "B" CIRCUIT BANK 1 When monitoring codes and engine data I observed that the scan tool showed the vehicles voltage was 12.7v while running. Using battery/ charging system tester I verified that the charging system is weak and is intermittently not charging. Alternator failed the charging system test but the battery passed the battery test. R&R alternator after verifying that the alternator is receiving good voltage and ground. After replacement of the alternator I verified that the system is now showing 14.3v while running. With the A/C on the voltage does not drop verifying that the alternator can handle the load. Previously when the A/C was being used the voltage in the system would drop to 12.7v. Coolant was found leaking from the coolant reservoir that had not been tightened properly. There are no leaks and the system codes did not return.
